Our Academic Philosophy
At Ebenezer Methodist International School, we believe that education should develop the whole child. Learning is approached with purpose, with attention not only to academic achievement but also to the knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence learners need to grow and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Our academic environment is designed to encourage curiosity, disciplined thinking, effective communication and a positive attitude towards learning.
Teaching and Learning
We seek to provide a learning environment in which learners are encouraged to participate actively in their education. Teachers guide, support and challenge learners while creating opportunities for them to develop understanding, apply knowledge and build confidence.
Learning is supported through purposeful classroom activities, discussion, practical experiences and other approaches appropriate to the needs and developmental stages of our learners.
Developing the Whole Child
Academic development is an important part of the EMIS experience, but it is not considered in isolation. We recognise the importance of developing learners who are responsible, confident, respectful and capable of working positively with others.
Our wider school experience therefore complements classroom learning by providing opportunities for learners to develop communication, collaboration, creativity, leadership and personal responsibility.
Assessment and Progress
Assessment forms an important part of the learning process. It helps teachers understand learner progress, identify areas requiring further support and provide appropriate feedback.
We aim for assessment to provide useful information about what learners know, understand and can do, while helping teachers and parents support each learner's continued development.
Academic Stages
EMIS provides an educational journey designed to support learners through their different stages of development. Teaching and learning are adapted to the age, developmental needs and educational requirements of learners as they progress through the school.
